You are invited to participate in a research study. The purpose of this study is to explore expertise as it relates to multiplayer role playing games.
You are being asked to participate in the study because you play or have played these games and have shown some expertise.
Procedures
If you volunteer to participate in this study, you will be asked to complete an online survey. The survey covers questions related to your gaming experiences and expertise.
Benefits of Participation
There may not be direct benefits to you as a participant in this study. However, we hope to learn how gamers master their characters and the gaming environment. This will improve our understanding of learning in general within gaming environments and will hopefully offer insight into expertise within similar educational games.
There are risks involved in all research studies. This study is anticipated to include only minimal risks. You will be asked to complete a survey of responses which involves your memory of previous events. It is possible that those memories are unpleasant.
Cost /Compensation
There is no financial cost to you to participate in this study. The study will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. You will not be compensated for your time.

Voluntary Participation
Your participation in this study is voluntary. You may refuse to participate in this study or in any part of this study. You may withdraw at any time without prejudice to your relations with the university. You are encouraged to ask questions about this study at the beginning or any time during the research study.
Confidentiality
All information gathered in this study is anonymous. Names and information will not be collected. Once collected, survey responses will be stored on an encrypted hard drive within a locked facility at UNLV for at least 3 years after completion of the study. After the storage time the information gathered will be destroyed.
